IHSAA Girls Softball

2003 Tournament Pairings

 

A field of 352 teams will begin play May 26 in the 19th annual IHSAA Girls Softball Tournament. This is the sixth year the tournament will be conducted in a multiple-class format, with the field divided into three classes.

 

The tournament format again calls for 16 sectionals in each of the three classes. Sectional play is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 26, at sites determined by the center school, and conclude by Saturday, June 14.

 

Note:  Below, you will find the scheduled locations and times.  Because of possible weather postponements and other conflicts, it is advisable to check with the host school for precise day and time schedules.

 

The 48 sectional champions will advance to regional play -- four sites in each class -- on June 7. There will be four teams and three games at each regional site. The format calls for two semifinals games at 11:00 a.m. and 100 p.m., followed by the championship game at 7:00, where possible.

 

The 12 regional champions -- four in each class -- will advance to the state finals June 13 and 14. On Friday night, June 13, there will be two semifinal games in each class at 6:30 and 8:30. The Class A semifinals will be played at Hamilton Southeastern, the Class 2A semifinals will be played at North Central (Indianapolis), and the Class 3A semifinals will be played at Carmel's Cherry Tree Complex. On Saturday, June 14, the three championship games will all be played at Carmel's Cherry Tree Complex, with Class A action at 1:00 p.m., followed by 2A play at 4:00 and the 3A title game at 7:00.

 

Tickets prices for the sectionals will be $4.00 per session, $7:00 season.  The regional tickets will be priced at $5.00 per session, $7:00 season.  The state finals will go for $7.00 per session, $10.00 season.
