Andrean scored three runs in its first at-bat and went on to post a 5-0 victory over Greensburg to win the IHSAA Class 2A Softball state title June 21 at Cherry Tree Softball Complex in Carmel.

 It was the first IHSAA state championship in any sport for Andrean, which finished 31-7. Greensburg closed at 27-2 in its first trip to the IHSAA Softball State Finals.

Andrean's Kadie Simon opened the game a leadoff single, and scored from third base when the Greensburg rightfielder mishandled a flyball. The 59ers scored twice more when Angie Grimmer scored from third on a wild pitch by Greensburg's Allison Riedeman and the ensuing throwing error from the backstop by the catcher allowed Gretchen Messenger to come home from second base.

Andrean made it 4-0 in the third inning when Simon again led off with an infield single and later was plated on Grimmer's double to leftfield. Jodie Mojzik added the extra insurance run in the seventh inning when she walked, was sacrificed to second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error by Greensburg's third baseman.

Andrean second baseman Kadie Simon was named the recipient of the Mental Attitude Award in Class 2A Softball by the IHSAA Executive Committee. Simon ranked third academically in a clas of 205 students. She is a member of the National Honor Society, served as co-editor-in-chief of the school's yearbook, and has been active in a number of other extracurricular activities at the school. She also participated in basketball, and captained the basketball and softball teams. Simon plans to enroll at the University of Rochester and pursue a career in medicine. Farm Bureau Insurance, the IHSAA corporate partner, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Andrean High School in Simon's name.
