Unbeaten
Singles Stalwarts lead Park Tudor to IHSAA Championship
Park Tudor
sophomore Megan Martzolf (23-0) and junior MaryBeth Winningham (22-0)
completed undefeated singles campaigns to lead coach Dave Heffern’s
18-2 squad to the school’s third state championship with a 3-2 triumph over
Evansville Memorial (18-2) in the 31st Annual IHSAA Girls Tennis
State Finals at
Martzolf at
#1 and Winningham at #2 gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead
in the final, but Park Tudor freshmen Elizabeth Emhardt
and Heather Rogers provided the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #2
doubles over Evansville Memorial’s Jessica Bello and Reva Mehdiratta.
Martzolf
will advance to next weekend’s 24th Annual IHSAA Girls Tennis
Singles Finals because of her undefeated record at #1 singles in the
tournament. She finished third
individually as a freshman last year.
Culver
Academies (19-2) swept the singles to edge Zionsville (21-3) in the consolation
match, 3-2.

Named Mental Attitude Award Winner
Zionsville
senior number two singles player Mary Elizabeth Campbell received the IHSAA
Mental Attitude Award following Saturday’s matches. The recipient of this award must excel in
mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability in tennis. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, IHSAA
corporate partner, presented a $1,000 scholarship to

all facets of high school,” says Zionsville principal Jim Eggers. “Her ability to lead and set an example for
her peers is unprecedented. She
