Throughout the season, the Indiana Pacers accept
nominations of outstanding senior student-athlete basketball
players for recognition through the Larry Bird Character
Award program. These individuals are nominated by their
schools due to their academic excellence, character,
sportsmanship and community service.
Each week one male and one female nominee are recognized
in The Indianapolis Star and on IndyStar.com. The overall
winners - one female and one male - will receive a Larry Bird
Character Award trophy and $2,500 scholarship in April.
Basketball coaches and athletic directors are encouraged
to nominate players who meet the criteria. Nominations can
be submitted at Pacers.com and are being accepted now
through March 4, 2011.
