North Central Tops Carmel to Repeat
as State Champion

a 3-2 decision at North Central on Sept. 4.
It was the third time in four seasons the two
schools had met for the state championship
and fourth consecutive championship match
appearance for North Central. Carmel had
defeated North Central for the crown in 2011
and 2012.
With the Panthers holding a 2-1 edge, it was
No. 1 singles player Ari Gerstein’s 6-3, 7-5 vic-
tory over Greyhound Nick Werner that proved
the title-clincher.
Despite the loss, both Carmel doubles teams
fi nished perfectly with No. 1 tandem Matt
Quammen and Radha Vishnubhotla completing the
