Memorial Scholarships
Jake Tippmann of Snider High School in Fort
Wayne has earned three varsity letters in Football
and served as Team Captain this past Fall for the
Class 5A State Champion Panthers. He ranks first
in his senior class of 453 students, posting a 4.93
weighted GPA. He has earned Academic All-State
honors for his work in the classroom and was
named to the Indianapolis Colts Academic Team,
awarded to 24 football players each year. Jake was
also named an Indiana Association of Principals
Rising Star for the Class of 2024. He currently
serves as Vice President of the IHSAA Student
Advisory Committee, where he assists with State
Finals events throughout the year and serves as
an ambassador to student-athletes throughout the
state. Jake has been a mentor with Big Brothers
Big Sisters for three years, meeting with younger
football players in his school district each week.
He’s also a member of Snider’s Student Council
Jake Tippmann and Bio-Med Charity Council. Jake works
Fort Wayne Snider part-time as a Swim Instructor and Team Leader
for Emler Swim School. He will be attending
Purdue University in the Fall.
Culver Academies senior Erin Zhu has earned a 3.86
unweighted GPA thus far, while participating in
Swimming & Diving (four varsity letters), Tennis (two
varsity letters), Volleyball (two varsity letters), and Track
and Field. She currently serves as Admission Co-Chair
for Culver Girls Academy, overseeing and acting as a
liaison for all prospective and enrolled students. In this
position, she provides training, arranges student tours,
recruits other ambassadors, and organizes committee
meetings with other Admissions ambassadors. Erin is
also a part of the Campus Activities Board, promoting,
planning, and regulating all the activities and events at
Culvers Girls Academy. Additionally, Erin created Sin
Fronteras, a Spanish Club that promotes awareness and
appreciation for the cultures of Spanish speaking
countries through cultural activities and weekly
meetings. She has served as Prefect in numerous
departments, something unique to those who attend
a boarding/military school. Working as Prefect, Erin
worked to ensure rules were followed and that the other Erin Zhu
students were aware of what’s expected of them and the Culver Academies
standards they must follow. Erin works part-time as a
Lifeguard with the City of Elgin Aquatics. She will be
attending Tulane University in the Fall.

MICAH SHREWSBERRY
Head Men’s Basketball Coach,
University of Notre Dame
Shrewsberry, a Jeffersonville native,
attended Cathedral High School in
Indianapolis where he participated in
baseball and basketball for the Irish.
Shrewsberry went on to earn his
bachelor’s degree from Hanover College in
1999 and his master’s degree from
Indiana State in 2003. As a basketball
player at Hanover, Shrewsberry was a
three-year starting guard and team tri-
captain leading the league in free throw
percentage and assists during the 1998–
99 season.
After his playing career, Shrewsberry
began coaching as a Graduate Assistant at the University of
Indianapolis. He then had assistant coaching stops at Wabash College and
DePauw University before serving as Director of Basketball Operations at
Marshall University for two seasons.
In 2005, Shrewsberry was named the head coach at Indiana University-
South Bend, his first head coaching gig, where he served until 2007, when
he joined Brad Stevens’ staff at Butler University. With Shrewsberry on the
sidelines, the Bulldogs compiled an 87-21 record, won two Horizon League
regular-season championships and two Horizon League Tournament titles
and made three NCAA Tournament appearances – which included back-to-
back runs to the national championship game in 2010 and 2011.
Following his time at Butler, Shrewsberry experienced two separate stints
at Purdue University, one as assistant coach from 2011-13 and another as
associate head coach from 2019-21, and spent six seasons, from 2013-19
with the NBA’s Boston Celtics as an assistant coach reuniting with Brad
Stevens.
During his tenure, the Celtics reached the playoffs in five consecutive
seasons, including back-to-back appearances in the Eastern Conference
Finals in 2017 and 2018. Shrewsberry played a key role in the development
of current NBA stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who were the No. 3
picks in the 2016 and 2017 NBA Drafts, respectively.
In 2021, Shrewsberry was hired as Head Coach at Penn State University.
In his two seasons with the school, he compiled a 37-31 record and led the
Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament Appearance since 2011 and
first NCAA Tournament victory since 2001 in the 2022-23 season.
Following that season, Shrewsberry was hired as the 18th Men’s Basketball
Head Coach at the University of Notre Dame and finished his first season at
the helm this past March.
