Charles F. Maas Mental Attitude Award Last Year’s State Finals In Review
At the conclusion of the state finals, the IHSAA Executive Committee presents the Charles F.
Maas Mental Attitude Award to the outstanding senior participant in the Boys Cross Country
State Tournament. The recipient of this award, who was nominated by his principal and coach, The 43rd Annual Girls Cross Country State Finals
must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability in cross country. LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course,
The award was named after the late Charles F. Maas by the IHSAA Executive Committee on Terre Haute, Indiana, October 28, 2023
February 3, 1985. Mr. Maas devoted a lifetime to Indiana high school athletic programs as
player, coach, athletic director and IHSAA Assistant Commissioner from 1973 until his Final Team Standings Top 20 Individuals
passing in 1984. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, IHSAA corporate partner, presents a $1,000
