Charles F. Maas Mental Attitude Award Last Year’s State Finals In Review
At the conclusion of the state finals, the IHSAA Executive Committee presents the Charles F.
Maas Mental Attitude Award to the outstanding senior participant in the Boys Cross Country The 44th Annual Girls Cross Country State Finals
State Tournament. The recipient of this award, who was nominated by his principal and coach,
must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability in cross country. LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course,
The award was named after the late Charles F. Maas by the IHSAA Executive Committee on Terre Haute, Indiana
February 3, 1985. Mr. Maas devoted a lifetime to Indiana high school athletic programs as November 2, 2024
player, coach, athletic director and IHSAA Assistant Commissioner from 1973 until his
passing in 1984. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, IHSAA corporate partner, presents a $1,000 Final Team Standings Top 20 Individuals
Charles F. Maas scholarship to the school’s general scholarship fund in the name of the recipient.
