A Letter from the Commissioner
Bobby Cox began serving as
the eighth Commissioner
of the Indiana High School
Athletic Association in 2011.
passionate fans of high school sports, our Foundation continues to expand
its reach, providing very important character and professional development
opportunities to our students and coaches. The success of these programs will
continue to differentiate education-based athletics from all other sporting
opportunities in our country.
The IHSAA once again celebrated the presentation of 13 C. Eugene Cato
Memorial Scholarships to deserving high school seniors in our state, along
with the acknowledgment of 42 Mental Attitude Awards throughout the
championship seasons. These recognitions represent nearly $75,000 of
investment into the best and brightest students in our state.
Finally, well over 1.3 million fans attended IHSAA tournament series
events in the 2017-18 school year. Your generous support of our young people
along with the undying sustenance of our corporate partners allow Hoosier
student-athletes to enjoy robust and memorable high school careers. For all
these blessings, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
The great American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt once stated, “Happiness
lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.” Our collaborations
on behalf of the student-athletes of Indiana provides this happiness.
Cordially,
Bobby Cox
Commissioner
Indiana High School Athletic Association, Inc.
