Last Year’s State Finals in Review
MUNCIE CENTRAL RETURNS TO TOP SPOT IN CLASS 4A

In 2008, Muncie Central settled
for a runner-up finish but left no doubt
this time around overwhelming Elkhart
Memorial (36-3) from the outset. The
Bearcats swept Center Grove earlier in

ship for Muncie Central in the sport
and its second under coach Wes Lyon
who last guided the team to the top in
2004.
The Bearcats were led by Jamie
Drummer’s 14 kills and 13 digs in the
match. Abbie Allardt and Alyssa Sorrell
added 10 each. The Chargers’ Brittany
Anglemyer led all players with 17 kills
while Krystle Troyer put down 10.

Braves. Jill Hopper tallied 13 kills for Yorktown, while Bailey
Barker and Emily MacIntyre collected 21 and 16 digs,
respectively.
Brebeuf Jesuit, coached by Brian Murray, had turned
away Silver Creek in the morning semifinal round, 25-11,
25-14, 25-4, while Yorktown swept Mishawaka Marian, 25-
20, 25-16, 25-14 in the other semi. Stephanie Bloom was
the Yorktown coach.
