Last Year’s State Finals in Review



             AVON BATTLES TO A 1-0 OVERTIME VICTORY OVER FISHERS

     After both teams went scoreless through regulation
     play, Avon got on the board thanks to a Cassidy Bla-
     cha goal in the 86th minute. Blacha was dangerous
     all day with a game high six shots on goal. Hope Van
     Wagner fed Blacha on the play and the goal would
     be all the Orioles needed through the remainder of
     extra time to take home their first state trophy.
     Avon goalkeeper junior Kelsey Dossey saved seven
     shots en route to a state finals shutout. Fishers
     netminder Morgan Hammon had an impressive day
     as well, ending with 10 saves.
     Eric Nance coached his Orioles squad to an 18-2-3


            CROWN POINT CLAIMS SECOND STATE TITLE IN THREE YEARS

     In a battle of unbeaten teams, No. 4 ranked Crown   undefeated at 21-0-1. They become just the fourth

     the season during the 27th minute.  Avon answered
     as time ran down in the first half, thanks to a strike by
     junior midfielder Taylor Kleyn, his second of the year.

     After a scoreless second half, senior midfielder Nate
     Brower put the Bulldogs up 2-1 on an unassisted
     goal in the 83rd minute. Shortly thereafter freshman
     midfielder Brad Kurtz buried the ball in the upper
     right corner for a two-goal advantage and Crown
     Point made the lead hold up for the remainder of the
     overtime session.

     The champion Bulldogs were led by second-year
     head coach Mike Bazin and finished the season
