3 Hail to the State Champions
Every high school sports season in
Indiana ends with the crowning of a
state champion. All 43 of the IHSAA’s
2015-16 state champions are listed on
the next page.
Equally important are those teams and individuals who were
winners this past year in less publicized ways—the teams that
won a conference or sectional championship, the squad that
finally defeated a long-time nemesis after years of disappoint-
ment and frustration, the individuals who swam their best
race ever, the coaches who had their most successful season
in recent memory, the schools that advanced farther in the
state tournament than ever before, the softball player who got
her first walk-off hit, the cross country runner who recorded
the fastest time in his career.
The IHSAA salutes all those student-athletes who made
the choice to support their school and their community by
participating in education-based athletics. They have
learned important lessons that will benefit them for the rest
of their lives.
