the “extended classroom.” These loyal and passionate followers are also in
attendance at literally thousands of regular season contests throughout the
year. It is with confidence that I believe our collective team stands as the
fabric which sustains interscholastic athletics in Indiana.
The IHSAA once again celebrated the presentation of 13 C. Eugene Cato
Memorial Scholarships to deserving high school seniors in our state along
with the acknowledgement of 42 Mental Attitude Awards throughout the
championship seasons. These recognitions represent nearly $75,000 of invest-
ment into the best and brightest students in our state. Most certainly the team
captains of the next generation.
I’m thrilled to share that our IHSAA Foundation is growing and expanding its
reach. Educational programs for students and adults are being implemented
by the Foundation to enrich and enhance the student-athlete experience. Our
Student Advisory Committee continues to shine and provide peer leadership
across the state as well as valuable input to the administrators of the organiza-
tion. Additionally, our Unified Sports ® Track and Field program stands as the
fastest growing offering in the Unified space across our nation with over 100
schools registered in four short years. Our team is growing without question.
“I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it,
because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.”
Thank you for being a treasured member of our team. Thank you for your
sacrifices and support of our very deserving young people. Collectively, we will
prevail as the ultimate champions for our labors.
Sincerely,
Bobby Cox
