ITPC Anti-Vaping Campaign
The Association was proud to partner with
Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation
(ITPC) again on the #DontPuffThisStuff
Campaign in 2021-22. This campaign is a truly
unique opportunity for the IHSAA in that
we get to communicate to every high school
student and promote good life decisions for
the betterment of their health.
The purpose of the IHSAA reads, in part, to
“cooperate with all agencies vitally concerned with
the health and educational welfare of secondary
school students.” Through our partnership with
the Indiana Department of Health and Tobacco
Prevention and Cessation, we are being consistent
with the goals of the Association.
There are some things more important than winning. Showing respect to your opponent is an important
lesson learned in the second classroom.
Tournament Promotions In addition to employing social media for
tournament promotions, the Association
In 2021-22, the Association emphasized produced PSAs for the football tournament
bringing fans back to the stands—and and both the girls’ and boys’ basketball
encouraging fans to attend tournament tournaments. The PSAs for the basketball
events was a priority. Social media was tournaments centered around the theme
employed to promote all tournaments. The “This Is Hoosier Hysteria.” And Governor
content aimed to not only encourage fans to Eric Holcomb again showed his support
buy a ticket but also wished all participants for education-based athletics in Indiana
and fanbases good luck. by appearing in one of the PSAs with
Commissioner Neidig.
Fans of Friday Night Lights and Hoosier Hysteria
responded in a positive way to the promotion of the
IHSAA’s Football and Basketball State Tournaments.
After a year of limited attendance, we’re thankful
communities were able to pack the stands to
support their teams. The IHSAA’s outreach programs help teach the
lessons of education-based athletics to every
member of a high school community, regardless of
whether they are in the stands or on the court.
