The Story of Gavinn Alstott

                                                 Gavinn Alstott,

                                                 a junior at Floyd

                                                 Central High School,

                                                 has a dream.

“I’m still that little kid, that 14-year-old, who wants to be a
state champion,” said Gavinn. His goal begs the question:
“What does it mean to be a champion?”

The backstory: Gavinn is an Indiana high school wrestler, a
really awesome high school wrestler, a kid who started wres-
tling as a second grader and won only a match or two. Ten years
later, he’s a 126-pound grappler with a huge heart, enormous
discipline and a work ethic that knows no bounds. Gavinn went
to the IHSAA Semi-State Wrestling Tournament in Evansville
                                                 on February 15, 2020, with a near-perfect 38-1 record, having
lost only to the eventual 126-pound high school state champion
                                                 from neighboring Illinois.

Gavinn may not have achieved his goal of being an IHSAA state
champion yet, but he still knows what it feels like to be a winner. His
record prior to the semi-state meet in Evansville was a glittering 38-1.
